Memories of long ago, resurfaced today when listening to the news.
The Foibe .
Years ago, in a so-called school trips, I ended up watching one of the many Basovizza holes in the karst is full, making me hold the hand of a classmate, I leaned over the edge looking down.
I wanted to know what effect it would have the understanding to be thrown alive. That night I had many nightmares.
Foibe or one of the taboos of Italian history. Ciampi has made 10 February on the day of memory dedicated to them, but I wonder how many actually know this section of our history.
The Karst plateau is dotted with more or less deep cracks. Typical structure of the rock formation. But the sinkholes have become infamous during the Second World War, when the Yugoslav partisans used as mass graves of Italians. We say that anyone anti- or against the annexation of Venezia-Giulia to Yugoslavia as a grave danger of having the foiba.
